30-03-15 - Ill

Woke up rough again this morning. yesterday afternoon I was really feeling bad as well. I slept in until 10am this morning so didnt go for a walk with the dog or start jump training.

I am going to see how I feel after work to try and makeup the training.

29/03/15 - Shooting

Woke up early this morning and did my 100 made freethows plus 20 made 3 pointers.

Was better than my last session but not by much. I managed to get into a rhytum a couple of times but it was still bad the percentages are below:

Freethrows:

10-18 = 56.6%
10-19 = 52.6%
10-18 = 56.6%
10-17 = 58.8%
10-13 = 76.9% (8 in a row)
10-14 = 71.4%
10-11 = 90.9% (8 in a row)
10-19 = 52.6%
10-20 = 50%
10-17 = 58.8%

Total shots = 166
Total percentage = 60.2%

3 Pointer:

10-19 = 52.6%
10-23 = 43.5%

Total Shots = 42
Total Percentage = 47.6%

I also turned on Strava on my phone in my pocket to see how far I moved and found the following:

In just over an hour I was in movement for just 37.12 Minutes and moved 1.2 miles.


28/03/15 - Rest Day

Today I took a rest day as there was no basketball this afternoon as it was raining and we play outside on saturdays at the moment.

This morning I went for a 2 Mile walk with my dog. We walked for 50 minutes and climbed 500ft.

ILL - 27/03/15

Woke up early today with a headache and feeling really rough. Decided no to train and slept another couple of hours instead.

Found out later that the headache was from coca cola withdrawal as it went away when I drank a coke!!!.

Consistantly bad - 26/03/15

training didnt go well today. I couldnt get into a rhythm for thewhole time that I was shooting.

When my technique was good the shots swooshed but every couple of shots I would miss horribly as I wasnt using the finger!!!

My totals for today were as follows:

10-19 = 52.6%
10-17 = 58.8%
10-13 = 76.9%
10-17 = 58.8%
10-17 = 58.8%
10-18 = 55.5%
10-19 = 52.6%
10-15 = 66.7%
10-21 = 47.6%
10-18 = 55.5%

Took a total of 174 shots to make the 100 shots for lowly total of 57.5%!!!!!

Day 1 - 25/03/15

Went and shot freethrows this morning and it didnt go as well as I was hoping. I shot a total of 64.1% from freethrows and 35.7% fron 3 points.

I got up late this Morning só I was really cold when i started shooting as got out of bed got dressed cleaned my teeth and went streight to the court. Tomorrow I AM going to get up earlier and walk the dog and go on the esxercise bike before going to the court to ser if it is any better. I also felt that I was shooting off if the wrong finger most of the time especially when I missed.

Tomorrow I will concentrate on my release more. I was also feeling really stiff and not relaxed which was probably a result of not being warmed up.

I had the same problem last night at practice. I was working until 15 minutes before practice started só I didnt do my usual 30 minutes warmup on the exercise bike. It took me over an hour to get into my rhytum.

On a positive note shooting só badly this morning will make it easy to get improvements.

A breakdown of my shots is below.

10 - 18 = 55.5%

Introduction

I have been injured for the last 2 months and while browsing the web looking for rehab exercises I stumbled on the

Pro Shot Shooting System

While watching the videos a light went off in my head and I couldnt believe how I had been shooting with the wrong mechanics. To test this theory I watched a couple of NBA games and saw that the majority of the better shooters in the nba were using this technique in varying forms. When I looked at old games of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryan they definately used the technique 100%.

 The next day I went to the club to shoot some freethrows I started off with my usual technique for square to the basket elbow pulled under the hand .... I shot 60% using this technique for the 20 shots and never hit more than 2 shots in a row!!!! The next 20 I shot using the Pro Shot Shooting System technique and was amazed to find that the percentage went up to 80% and I shot 10 in a row!!!

When I got home I went to the pro shot web site

I basically ingested the information from the whole site and have put it into changing my shot for the better.  

 Since then I have been using the new technique with a great deal of success.

 I am now going to get serious about my shooting training and shoot at least 100 freethrows a day to get the technique into my muscle memory. I also want to work on my 3 point shot which has improved a great deal due to the new technique as well. My shot is now much more relaxed and the guys that I train with have noticed how my shot always loks like it will go in now as it is much straighter due to the finger release.

 This morning I was short on time but managed to make 100 freethrows in 50 minutes. Tomorrow I plan to shoot in 10 sets of 10 made freethrows and record the amount of shots that it takes to make the shots.

At the weekend I will get a video camera to start recording my shooting sessions to analyse afterwards.
